Yokeback arm chair Ming dynasty, (the origional can be seen in the Metropolitan Museum of Art) was originally used as the chair for a Chinese painting desk. The design of this chair is simple. The top of the chair fame is Cyma shaped, the back is a with moulded edges and a very small cut out were the splat fits on to the chair seat. (Hence the name yoke back) The top of the back frame and splat are curved back slightly. The chair has open arms curved outwards with straight supports.
